Happy Friday!
Here is an activity we have been working on this week: Narrative Writing
Learning Intentions:
- Recognize and use figurative language in oral and written communication.
- Revise written texts for accuracy, clarity, or appeal by adding, removing, or changing words or sentences.
- Include a variety of carefully selected words and sensory detail to add interest and keep audiences engaged.
- Communicate personal voice or the voice of characters in narratives through dialogue.
Students have been continuing to work on their stories this week. We focused on dialogue and how to use quotation marks correctly. We talked about adjectives and ensured we included these in our writing and underlined them in green when revising. Students then got to focus on the characters in their story and described what they are like on the outside but also how they behave and what they think and feel and why. This will hopefully help them write more descriptive stories.
Reminders:
- We have our Telus Spark Field Trip on Tuesday! Students are asked to arrive to school on time, with a packed snack and lunch. It will also be helpful to dress for the weather and wear good walking shoes as students will have some time to explore Telus Spark and may want to visit the outdoor Brainasium.
- We have sent home multiple learning artifacts and quizzes this week. Please take the time to review your child's work with them.
